Tom Kelm
By the time he enrolled at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo as a Fruit Science major, Tom Kelm had already gained years of practical experience working on his family’s farm near Visalia, California. As a teen, he worked for a number of licensed PCAs in the area.
In 1988, Tom graduated and obtained his PCA license. A well-known West Coast ag micronutrient and chemical company hired him as a sales rep, and he spent the next two decades honing his expertise in agronomy, direct sales, product line management, research and development, and vendor relations. As his employer expanded into the Salinas Valley, Arizona and Northern Mexico markets, Tom took steps to learn the ins and outs of farming in those regions. He coordinated field research, developed warehousing services, and held educational sessions with growers and PCA’s to help them better understand the role of surfactants, micronutrients and crop protectants.
